Travelling by bus, tram and train is not always easy for people with disabilities. It is our declared aim to offer you more and more barrier-free access to stops and vehicles.
If you have mobility restrictions, you can travel free of charge throughout the Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe transport network, as long as you have a corresponding stamp in your disabled person's pass. This also applies to the person accompanying you and to guide dogs for the blind.
You are entitled to free travel if you hold a disabled person's pass in the following categories:
- G = severe impairment of mobility in road transport
- aG = severe walking impairment
- GI = deaf
- BI = blind
- H = helpless
In addition to your green/orange disabled person's pass, you need a supplement with a valid stamp for 'free travel'. This is available from the Leipzig welfare office (Sozialamt).
If you have a 'B' category disabled person's pass, another person can travel with you for free. You can also take a dog along with you instead of an accompanying person.
Guide dogs for the blind are transported free of charge in addition to an accompanying person if the code 'Bl' is entered on your disabled person's pass. Other aids, such as wheelchairs, are also transported without charge.
